    Description: 1β,6α-Dihydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene (Voleneol,DE) can attenuate the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in BV2 microglial cells, it also can dose-dependently suppress the protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2),suggest thats DE may be a good candidate to regulate LPS-induced inflammatory response.

    Anti-inflammatory effects of 1β‚6α-dihydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene isolated from Myrrh on LPS-induced neuroinflammation in BV2 cells[Reference: WebLink]
    Myrrh is a resinous substance obtained from Commiphora trees, which has long been used as an antiseptic agent.A sesquiterpene, 1β, 6α-dihydroxyeudesm-4(15)-ene (DE,Voleneol), was isolated from the hot water extract of Myrrh.
    METHODS AND RESULTS:
    In the presentstudy, we found that DE attenuates the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in BV2 microglial cells. DE significantlyinhibited LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) in BV2 microglia in a concentration-dependent manner without cytotoxic effect. Furthermore, DE dose-dependentlysuppressed the protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).
    CONCLUSIONS:
    These results suggest that DE may be a good candidate to regulate LPS-induced inflammatory response.
