Description:

Dehydroandrographolide succinate can alleviate oxidative stress in LPS-induced acute lung injury possibly by inactivating iNOS. It combined with ribavirin treatedchildren with hand-foodand mouth disease,the duration of fever was shorter,rashes on hands and feet more quickyly.

Therapeutic effects of dehydroandrographolide succinate combined with ribavirin on children with hand-foot-and-mouth disease[Reference: WebLink]

To evaluate the therapeutic effects of dehydroandrographolide succinate and ribavirin on children with the early severe tendencies of hand-foot-and-mouth disease.
METHODS AND RESULTS:
Children(46 cases) with the early tendencies of hand-foot-and-mouth disease were divided randomly into two groups.All cases received ribavirin and therapies based on their symptoms,while the treatment group of 23 children received dehydroandrographolide succinate(10 mg.kg-1.d-1) for 5 days.Clinical symptom regression time or recovery time in two groups were observed after treatments. All children were recovered after treatments and no case develop into neurogenic pulmonary edema or cardiopulmonary collapse.The duration of fever was shorter in the treatment group;rashes on hands and feet faded more quickly than those of the control group.The difference between the two groups had statistical significance.However,there was no statistically significant differences between the two groups as for the time of mental improvement,disappearance of body shaking and hospital stay time.
CONCLUSIONS:
Dehydroandrographolide succinate combined with ribavirin treatedchildren with hand-foodand mouth disease,the duration of fever was shorter,rashes on hands and feet more quickyly.
