    Dyeing properties of methacrylamide-grafted silk with reactive dyes.[Reference: WebLink]

    METHODS AND RESULTS:
    To make a better understanding of the reactive dyeing properties of methacrylamide-grafted silk,The authors analyzed the structure of both the grafted and non-grafted silk by means of TG/DTA,FT-IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.On this basis,their reactive dyeing properties such as dye uptake rate,fixation rate curve and build up property were investigated.The results indicated that the graft did not change the crystalline and molecular structures of silk fibroin,and the polymerization of grating monomers mainly occurred in the amorphous region of silk so that the crystallinity of the fiber decreased.The grafting resulted in the reduction of adsorption of reactive dyes onto silk,which led to the decrease in the fixation rate.The degree of reduction varied with reactive dyes and increased with the increasing of concentration of reactive dyes.
    CONCLUSIONS:
    Therefore,the grafting caused the decline of the build-up property of silk with reactive dyes and made it difficult to dye the silk to deep color.
